Spokane County Regional Waste Ambassadors and Art Salvage announce the first School-Cycle Supply Drive to collect gently used supplies from schools at the end of the academic year and redistribute the materials to those in need. Collected materials will be sorted, processed and packaged by volunteers and then distributed to organizations, groups and individuals at no cost.
Giving school supplies a second life reduces waste, conserves materials and reduces energy needs to produce new materials. In addition, redistributing the materials in our community has positive impacts on the environment by reducing shipping and packaging of new items and supporting students and families in need.
Several schools will be invited to participate in the first year of the supply drive while the program assesses how the initial impacts of the drive match with community needs. In subsequent years the School-Cycle Supply Drive will target schools within Spokane County.
